During the surgery, they also did a Jejunostomy, which is a surgical procedure to create an opening into the jejunum (part of the small intestine) from the outside of the body. A jejunostomy allows a feeding tube to be put into the small intestine.

The nutritionist in the hospital advised post-surgery care to give certain protein powders through the feeding tube, which made my father recover quickly and fast. When the feeding tube is in place, the person doesn’t know the taste of the food, he consumes. Even if it is hard for his tastebuds to consume orally, through a feeding tube it is simple and the person gets energy when you feed him. For almost 4 days post-surgery, he was asked to only have 2–3 sips of water. I must confess the fact that post-operative care was so good.
He slowly started having food orally and they discharged us 6 days post-surgery with few staples in place. The doctor had asked us to come for a follow-up within the next 3 days.
