As said in an earlier chapter, we decided to take an opinion from the hospital, where the surgery was done. I, my father, and the driver started the journey to Hyderabad. My father loves driving. So, he drove at midnight for 150 KM, he could have driven the entire journey, he stopped after 150 KM only after I hesitated and yelled at him not to drive more and get strained. The next morning when we reached there, he wasn’t able to bear the abdomen and lower abdomen pain.
I thought that because of getting strained due to driving and even he didn’t understand the reason. After taking the medication, we went to the hospital, consulted the doctor over there and spoke to Dr.TSR, he said after looking at the reports, try to get the PET-CT report rewritten by the radiation oncologist downstairs (by handing them the CD — whenever patients undergo MRI or scanning, along with the report, they would also give us the CD). I spoke to Dr.TSR personally then he said that according to this report, there was a problem and we requested a consultation with the best medical oncologist in that hospital and also in India(Dr. SR), Dr.TSR referred to him but there was a waiting period of 2 months for his appointment.
So, we went back to our hotel room and rested there for a few hours and my father said that he was having excruciating pain. He also said that it was because he was not able to pass the stools for 1 day and then I understood that it was chronic constipation. Even though we gave him Bisacodyl drugs, it didn’t work.
My father was very hesitant that he wanted to go back and get admitted to the hospital, where chemo was administered. It was almost 350 KM away and we started the journey somehow (in between, he almost drank 2–3 litres of coconut water. He was passing urine well as a result of it but there was no stool sensation). I was having mixed emotions and couldn’t control my anxiety about what was happening to him inside. Our driver also drove too fast to reach that hospital early.
We reached the hospital around 8:30 PM. Dr.Kishore, who was also head of that hospital, was just walking out then and saw us and asked us what happened. I explained to him, then Dr.Kishore asked his duty doctor to admit him to the ICU and infuse the fluids and give an enema.
